About our Speakers

Shaykh Bilal Ali Ansari was born and raised in Chicago, IL. After studying two years of computer engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana, IL, his desire for Islamic knowledge drove him to the Indian subcontinent, where he decided to pursue an education in Islamic studies. Shaykh Bilal started his Islamic studies at Jami'a al-Hasanayn in Faisalabad, Pakistan and he traveled to Karachi and enrolled at the famous Jami'ah Dar al-'Ulum Karachi where he completed his hadith studies. Currently, Shaykh Bilal Ali Ansari is teaching Islamic studies full-time at the Ma'had Ta'lim al-Islam (Institute of Islamic Education, Elgin IL) and resides with his wife near Chicago, IL.

Suhaib Abbasi is a nasheed artist from East York, Toronto. Originally from Pakistan, Suhaib started utilizing his melodious voice from an early age. He participated in many events in Pakistan representing his school. After moving to Canada in 2005, he continued to participate in musical events. He ranked in the top four at the 1st Canadian South Asian Idol. In Canada, his first nasheed performance took place at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto where he was given the opportunity as an emerging talent of the community. From here his Nasheed career sky-rocketed and he went on to perform at various events including Muslimfest, Annual Muslim heritage weekend at Ontario Place, and Reviving the Islamic Spirit (RIS).
